It's incredible what has happened in recent years with light and ultralight equipment! This is particularly evident with sleeping pads. Just a few years ago, ultralight mats were light, but not really comfortable.

Until Thermarest released the NeoAir, the first comfortable ultralight mat. In the meantime, there are several alternatives; here we present the Nemo Tensor, our favorite for ultralight and comfortable mats.

In 2019, the mat was completely redesigned: The mat is now inflated with a pump sack (included in the scope of delivery). This is super fast (approx. 3 fillings) and no moisture gets into the mat. The insulation no longer consists of Primaloft fibers, but of metallized films (warmer, lighter, more robust). The mat also has a new valve, it lies flat and nothing protrudes. In addition, the air is released immediately. This is very quick in the morning. Since 2020, the R-value has finally been officially stated, which makes it easier to compare between manufacturers.

New in 2022: The mats have become even warmer at the same weight, R4.2 for the insulated, R2.5 for the normal Tensor.
Inflating is quick and easy, just make sure you don't open the 2-way valve completely the first time ;-). The Vortex pump sack is simply plugged in, then blow into the pump sack from a distance, when the sack is full, press air into the mat. After 3-4 fillings, the mat is full.

The great advantage of the mat is immediately noticeable when the mat is inflated: With 8cm thickness (!) a very textile surface and the chamber construction, this mat is ultra-comfortable, not rustling (!) and not "wobbly". The workmanship is - as always with Nemo - very good. As with all inflatable mats, you should check the ground beforehand and ideally use a (tent) underlay for protection.
