How do I determine my shoe size?

To avoid problems while hiking and running, choosing the right shoe size is essential. Since shoe sizes are not standardized and all brands fit slightly differently, it is safer to measure your shoe size yourself if in doubt.

Your feet:

are true marvels. And they change, meaning they get bigger. With age, during very long hikes, but also over the course of a day, their size changes. Furthermore, one foot is almost always larger than the other. Feet are largest in the evening, so it makes sense to measure your foot size in the evening.

How do I measure my feet?

by standing straight against a wall in the evening with your preferred socks. Then it's best to get help and have a friend/partner measure your longer foot. Now you have your foot length. Then add about one centimeter. You need this extra space so that your foot has enough room and you don't encounter problems when walking downhill (keyword: blue toes).
Compare this centimeter value with the manufacturer's size chart and then you can order your shoes. Running shoes, in particular, often run small, so don't be surprised if a rather unusual shoe size comes out ;-)
