• Footprint The floor is waterproof but thin (as with other tents in this product class). To protect the floor, a footprint or at least a Tyvek sheet should be used. With Nemo's footprint, you can also set up just the fly (Fast Fly). This can be practical if you need a dry place for a break, for example.

the setup:

is very quick, the poles are completely connected and are simply inserted into the receptacles on the inner tent, the rest is hung onto the poles.
The tent is not completely free-standing; at least 2 pegs are required for the inner tent.
The fly can also be attached quickly and securely (clipped to the pole receptacle at the head end), and hooked into the pegs at the foot end.
Pitch the vestibules, and the tent is already quite stable.

the inner tent:

• 2 side pockets for small items

• On the ceiling there is a small pocket for the headlamp, the material scatters the light, nice for reading.

• When used with the fly, the space in the inner tent can be further increased, 2 cords can be hooked into the fly.

The fly:

• is cut wide, which ensures super ventilation.
• the included guylines can be attached at 4 points, making the tent very stable
• The fly can also be additionally fastened to the poles with small Velcro straps.
• The zippers go far up for easy entry and are additionally covered.
• can be quickly and easily attached to the inner tent
  

Our conclusion:

The Nemo Hornet is a great tent for anyone looking for a really lightweight tent. It is one of the lightest double-wall 2-person tents with 2 entrances and 2 vestibules. As long as you are not too tall (up to approx. 185cm), you can still comfortably stay in the tent as a couple.

The tent can be packed small and can be easily divided between 2 people.

Setup and takedown are quick and easy. Also works quite well alone.

The workmanship is, as usual from Nemo, very high quality.

A tent in this category is certainly not the right choice for 3 weeks of bad weather. But it is very wind-stable and occasional rain showers are no problem.

Here are some more tips for bad weather:

• if possible, position the narrow foot end into the wind

• Make sure that the cover flaps over the door zippers are closed

• Use the guylines, especially those at the head end (ventilation!)

Tips for long-term use:

• Do not let the poles snap together and do not let dirt get into the poles
• Operate zippers without force, keep them as clean as possible
• Use a footprint
• Store dry and clean
• Do not dry in the sun longer than necessary
