What makes a good long-distance hiking backpack?

 

- The material should be lightweight yet durable.

- Depending on the size, the weight should be around 1 kg.

- Different sizes should be available to find the perfect backpack for you.

- Hip pockets and large external pockets are important for carrying a wet tent, carrying water, and having essentials close at hand.

Chrispacks carries the most common models: the classic Circuit (68l volume, 1160g), the Ohm 2.0 (60l volume, 980g) and the CDT (54l volume, 730g).

We recently added the Epic to our range. Very suitable for long wilderness treks in wet areas. Can also be used well for packrafting trips.

 

The Circuit is the ideal backpack for major trekking tours. The strong carrying system ensures perfect load transfer. The Circuit also fits the bear canister, if your trail leads you to the PCT...;-). The Ohm has a more reduced carrying system and is our lightest 60l backpack. The CDT is aimed at experienced long-distance hikers who don't want a gram too much and for whom a simple carrying system is sufficient. Our favorite, for example, for fast alpine tours!

To help you find your size more easily, here are the ÜLA back and hip belt lengths:

ÜLA Back Lengths:

S = 38cm - 45cm

M = 45cm - 53cm

L = 53cm - 60cm

XL = 60cm +

 

If you are between two sizes, take the smaller size.

 

ÜLA offers 2 shoulder straps: "J" and "S" straps.

J straps are available in L lengths; for S and M, the S strap almost always makes sense.

For men with a normal torso, both usually fit. I would always recommend the S strap to a woman.

 

 

 

ÜLA Hip Belt Sizes:

XS = 66 - 76 cm

S = 76 - 86 cm

M = 86 - 96 cm

L = 96 - 106 cm

XL = 106 - 119 cm

XXL = 119 cm +

 

Here, too, if you are between two sizes, choose the smaller size.

Women:

Measure the narrowest part of your waist and add 12cm.

Men:

Measure your waist and add 5cm.
